General Hints & Tips
Below are various general hints on playing the game. These are strategies and playing tips that should make the game more enjoyable. 

We highly recommend that you save your game often. An alert message comes up after every 20 minutes that you do not save your game. It is best to save your game when you are "strong" and after you have gotten significant items. Also, you can save in more than one slot.

You should feel free to try jumps and other things...if you fall down a pit or miss a jump, you do not necessarily 'die', ie. end of game. You may be penalized in spiritual health points so you should save the game.

To use an object, you must select it by using the [ or ] keys or using the 'i' key. Then hit ENTER to use the current object. If you hit ENTER while on the scrolls, you will bring up the scroll menu.

While you are in a scroll menu -- either looking at scrolls or before a scroll door -- you can use the TAB keys to advance the box selection cursor and then hit ENTER to make a selection. SHIFT-TAB will select the previous selection. 

If you become lost in an area...you can use the 2-D map. Access it by TAB. Put it away by hitting TAB again. You can use the + and - keys to zoom in or out. You cannot bring up the map while another dialog -- like the scroll menu or the game menu -- is up.

You need to run and jump in several places. You must either hold down the SHIFT key while moving or you must have the auto-running option on. Also, remember when you release to do the jump, you may have to be close to the edge for your jump. Use the 2-D map (accessible by TAB) to see where you are more clearly. 

If you are struggling as you fight the enemies, practice, practice, and practice. You can learn their general moves and then you can devise ways to defeat them more easily. Check your accuracy with the F9 key to show your current status. An acceptable accuracy is at least 40%. If you are still struggling, you can restart the game and lower the difficulty level to something easier.

If you run out of or are low on ammo, you should look for more as soon as you can. You can use your sword as a close-up weapon, but it is not very effective. Ammo is located throughout each level, and also look for secret doors and areas to find more.

If your inventory becomes full, you can drop objects. You can drop them on the ground anywhere, no one will touch them. Just remember where they are.

You do not have to get rid of every single enemy you encounter. Some can be avoided; however, in the later levels they become more aggressive. 

If you are stuck in the game, you can go to a prayer altar and may get help. Additionally, you can receive strength. Prayer altars are sparsely located throughout the game, so make sure you search every passageway and area to locate one.
